“You Shall Not Kill”

    1. We all have face a common fate of death.
    2. James 3:5–11

      5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

      7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

      9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

  2. Fulfilling The Commandment

    Exodus 20:13

    “You shall not murder.

    1. How do you fulfill the commandment, “Thou shalt not kill (murder)”?
    2. We keep the commandment by not taking life but we fulfill it by giving life.
    3. How do we give life?
      1. Respect life!
        1. Get rid of life killers…
          1. Anger
          2. Stress

            Phillipians 4:4–9

            4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

            8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

    1. But we need to go further than just keeping the command and fulfill the commandment by giving life!
