    1. Words can make or break a relationship

    Exodus 20:7

    “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

  2. Strengthening Our Relationship With God
    1. God wants a positive, fulfilling relationship with us!

      Galatians 6:7–10

      7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

      1. Don’t hurt the relationship with destructive words
      2. Let’s go beyond refraining from misusing His name to honoring the family name!
  3. Honoring Him and His Name!
    1. How do we take God seriously?
      1. Using the opportunities He gives
      2. Not blaming Him for things that are not His fault!
      3. Giving Him credit for what He has done and is doing!
      4. Seeking His advice
      5. Thanking Him
      6. Taking His promises seriously
      7. Trusting Him to manage our lives
      8. Using and enjoying the gifts He has given us

    1. He knows words are powerful so He says to us:

      I LOVE YOU!!!
