“Are You Using Your Faith?”

I Matthew 28:16–20

  1. Introduction
    1. Faith is not the absence of doubt but it is acting on what Jesus says.
  2. Faith Is:
    1. A Gift

      (Romans 10:8)
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

    2. Action

      (Matthew 28:16–17)
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.

      1. If we are not moving forward under God’s direction, we are stalling.
      2. We often don’t act because of fear.
      3. We fear the battle.
  3. Nurturing Faith
    1. We all need to fuel our faith.
    2. How?
      1. Expose ourselves to God’s Word in as many ways as possible.
      2. Hang around healthy people of faith.
        1. We are Wired for Faith.
        2. Like-minded people become a force.
      3. Become a servant.
        1. We have to serve to grow.
  4. Conclusion
    1. Faith is acting on the directive of Jesus.
    2. We act on His Word because He is Lord.

      (v. 18)
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

    3. His directive is the Great Commission.

      (vs. 19–20a)
19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”

      1. Win the lost.
    4. His promise is His presence.

      (v. 20b)
“…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
