“Who Do You Know?”

Matthew 4:5-7

  1. Introduction
    1. Character is formed in the desert of temptation.
    2. Life is about character devlopment
    3. Temptation is taking a shortcut.
  2. Handling The Need For Recognition
    1. We seek recognition in relationships.
    2. We seek recognition in our work.
      1. Jesus’ work was carpentry.
      2. His recognition came in being a servant of God.
      3. He was on earth to serve God’s purposes.
    3. We seek recognition in ministry.
      1. Ministry has become a numbers game.
      2. Numbers can become an idol.
      3. Our self-worth becomes wrapped up in producing numbers.
      4. God’s job is to produce.
      5. Our job is to obey.
  3. Conclusion
    1. Jesus is the only One who can satisfy our need for recognition.
    2. How can we fulfill our need for recognition?
      1. Start a relationship with Him.
      2. Develop your relationship.
        1. It takes discipline.
        2. Commit to pray.
        3. Commit to read the Word.
        4. Commit to attend church.
    3. Commit to be accountable.
